Study Summary and Goals

The Downtown/EaDo Study provides analysis and recommendations to better link the many public venues located in the study area, while also encouraging new housing and job growth that allows people of all incomes to live in and around downtown. Specifically, the study recommends:

  • Activating the ground-level uses on selected streets and encouraging targeted residential and hotel development in the study area.
  • Improving pedestrian infrastructure for key connecting corridors like Chartres Street, Rusk Street, Capitol Street, and Texas Avenue.
  • Building separated bike lanes on certain downtown streets and connect bikeways to Buffalo Bayou.
