Overview
The Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Architecture Plan Update outlines the potential deployment and integration of ITS packages throughout the Houston-Galveston region.
The Plan provides the framework for implementing ITS projects, encourages interoperability and resource sharing among agencies, identifies applicable standards to apply to projects, and allows for cohesive long-range planning among stakeholders. The document was developed through extensive interviews with regional stakeholders, which identified needs and gaps within the transportation network. Several recommendations were outlined in the Plan that are designed to achieve desired ITS functionality and promote further regional collaboration on addressing transportation issues via ITS packages.
The 2025 ITS Architecture Plan includes a final report, an interactive ITS Architecture, and a database developed using the USDOT Regional Architecture Development for Intelligent Transportation (RAD-IT) Version 9.3.
