Summary and Goals
The City of Webster, a dynamic community strategically located midway between Downtown Houston and Galveston, is a vibrant hub of retail, dining, entertainment, medical, and aerospace sectors. With a population of about 12,500 that swells to a daytime population of more than 200,000 and a land-use composition that is 80% commercial, Webster is recognized as the “central business district” of Bay Area Houston and the gateway to NASA. While Webster has a lower population density and residential development than surrounding communities, its commercial activity and central location have positioned it for significant residential and commercial growth in the future. However, the study area generally lacks adequate infrastructure to support population growth and provide safe multi-modal connectivity and mobility throughout.
The study aims to enhance the livability, connectivity, and economic vitality of the City of Webster and the Greater Bay Area Houston communities.
