HOUSTON, TX – The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) hosted a hybrid workshop on May 15, 2024, to guide potential applicants through the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) Development Process. The workshop offered insights into effective project proposal submission to the RTP.

The RTP Project Development Process serves as the primary avenue for adding projects to the Regional Transportation Plan, a comprehensive regional plan that guides major transportation investments over a 20-plus-year planning outlook. Operated by H-GAC, this initiative seeks to ensure that long-term transportation projects align with the RTP vision statement and goals.

During the RTP Project Development Process workshop, participants learned about the project submission criteria, reviewed publicly available, free-to-use data applications, and obtained an overview of the application process via H-GAC's RTP online portal. Attendees were also provided with an interactive question-and-answer session to clarify outstanding concerns.

Project sponsors are encouraged to mark their calendars for the opening of the online portal at 9 a.m. on May 22, 2024. Submissions will close at 5 p.m. on July 22, 2024.

Workshop presentation slides and recording will be available on H-GAC's website to provide public access to the valuable insights shared during the session.

For more information and to access the RTP online submission portal, visit the project website on H-GAC.com.
