FM 787 Trinity River Bridge Relocation

Liberty County

FM 787

At Trinity River

The facility had 3 crashes, 2 serious injuries and 0 fatalities during the period from 2015 to 2017. The truck volume on the facility is roughly 1,006 trucks per day and this represents 45.2% percent of the facility's AADT. The Trinity River has been migrating in the vicinity of the FM 787 bridge crossing the river. The river migration threatens the roadway and bridge integrity. The effects of the migration were greatly worsened by the significant erosion caused by Hurricane Harvey floodwaters.

Trinity River bridge relocation

The purpose of this project is to reduce congestion on the facility and improve the reliability of peak-period travel times; reduce congestion and improve travel time reliability for freight movement on this facility. The proposed project will relocate the bridge and approach roadway at the Trinity River to a location were there is minimal river migration. This will improve the resiliency of this section of roadway and provide a lasting facility.
