HOUSTON, TX – The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC), in collaboration with the Buffalo Bayou Partnership, invites the public to participate in the second public meeting for the Connecting Buffalo Bayou East concept design study. This initiative aims to enhance pedestrian and bike infrastructure, improve connectivity, and support cultural and economic vitality in the Fifth Ward, Denver Harbor, and surrounding neighborhoods.
The meeting will take place from 6 to 8 p.m, Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026. at The Warehouse at Turkey Bend.
About the Connecting Buffalo Bayou East Study
The Connecting Buffalo Bayou East initiative supports regional planning efforts focused on connectivity, accessibility, and community needs. The concept design study examines opportunities to enhance pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure while supporting cultural and economic vitality in nearby communities.
Key goals of the study include:
- Providing implementation recommendations to extend and enhance pedestrian and bike infrastructure.
- Advancing the vision of a connected network of parks, shared-use paths, and public spaces.
- Highlighting specific opportunities to improve community connectivity, services, and amenities near the intersection of Lyons Avenue and Lockwood Drive.
Public Meeting Details
This meeting provides an opportunity for residents, community members and stakeholders to share input related to accessibility and safety in public spaces. Building on insights from the first public meeting held April 17, 2025, feedback gathered during this session will help inform design recommendations for the study area.
