HOUSTON, TX– The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) invites residents, community leaders, and transportation stakeholders to help shape the future of mobility in the region by attending a series of public meetings this summer to share feedback on the Regional Transportation Plan 2050 (RTP 2050).
The RTP outlines long-term strategies for improving how people and goods move throughout the Houston-Galveston region. Covering Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, and Waller counties, the plan guides future investments in roads, public transit, biking and walking infrastructure, freight systems, and new transportation technologies through the year 2050.
Public Meetings Scheduled Across the Region
To gather public input, H-GAC will host a series of in-person and virtual public meetings from July 10 through August 12. Meetings will be held county-by-county, giving residents multiple opportunities to learn about the plan and provide feedback.

What to Expect
Meeting attendees will have the opportunity to:
- Learn about regional transportation trends and challenges.
- Share their ideas and priorities.
- Ask questions and speak directly with transportation planners.
Why Public Input Matters
As our region grows, so do our transportation needs. RTP 2050 will serve as a roadmap for how we move people and goods safely, efficiently, and sustainably across the region. Public input ensures the plan reflects the values, priorities, and challenges of the communities it serves.
