Study Summary and Goals

The Hobby Study provides analysis and recommendations for land use and infrastructure investments that create a more connected, mixed-use community with strong community hubs and great public spaces. Specifically, the study recommends:

• Encouraging the development of local centers of the community that have a mix of uses and serve as destinations for international travelers, regional visitors, and local residents alike.
• Improving streetscape design and local connectivity, particularly along Telephone Road and Airport Boulevard.
• Investing in community greenspace along Sims Bayou and creating green corridors in other parts of the study area to enhance quality of life.

Study Area Map

The focus of the Hobby Area Livable Center study is the area bounded by Dixie Drive to the north, Almeda Genoa Road to the south, I-45) to the east, and Mykawa Road to the west. The area is a mix of moderate income neighborhoods, apartment complexes, strip commercial retail, and industrial development –which is primarily anchored by the presence of the William P. Hobby Airport.
