FM 1008 Turn Lanes

Liberty County

FM 1008

CR 632, N Winfree St

The facility had 32 crashes, 0 serious injuries and 1 fatalities during the period from 2015 to 2017. The average pavement rating for the routes is 2.89. The truck volume on the facility is roughly 417 trucks per day and this represents 5.4% percent of the facility's AADT. The existing roadway consists of two travel lanes (one in each direction) with minimal shoulders. Significant development is expected in areas off of FM 1008 and this will place increasing demand on FM 1008 in the foreseeable future.

Increase pavement width and add left turn bays.

The purpose of this project is to reduce crashes, serious injuries and fatalities on this facility; improve pavement condition on the facility and increase its pavement rating on this facility; reduce congestion on the facility and improve the reliability of peak-period travel times; reduce congestion and improve travel time reliability for freight movement on this facility. By providing turn lanes, the proposed project should improve safety by reducing rear-end collisions and reduce congestion by eliminating queuing at cross roads. The proposed improvements should help the facility accommodate future increasing traffic volumes.
