raster digital data The dataset was developed based on 2015 LandSat 8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) and the Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS) scenes of 30m resolution acquired from the USGS. Four scenes with 0-5% cloud cover were used to cover the entire area. Using supervised and unsupervised classification techniques in ENVI remote sensing package, the imageries were classified into 10 major land cover classes. Classification classes were determined based on the NOAA and NLCD land cover classification schemes. The output cell size is in 30m resolution. The 2015 land cover dataset was produced by the Community and Environmental Planning GIS (CE GIS) at H-GAC for the purpose of having an annual basis land cover data product with a level of accuracy suitable for planning and research applications at the regional level. Appropriate uses include regional and county water quality planning and watershed analysis, land use and socioeconomic modeling applications, large area resource management planning, educational purposes for students and citizens, broad scale evaluation of impact analysis and change detection.
