Interactive Alternate Fuels Station Finder
This interactive application visualizes workers' historical commuting patterns between home and workplace in 3 square-mile hexagonal grids in the region and analyzes the difference of average commute distances by workers’ ages, earnings, and industries. The data is based on 2002-2015 US Census Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) Origin-Destination Employment Statistics data.
Regional Flood Information is an interactive GIS tool that provides information on neighborhoods and population vulnerable to potential flooding and hazards. It consolidates data from various Federal and local agencies relevant to recent flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey in the H-GAC region (13 counties).
The 2017 Basin Highlights Report includes water quality status and trends for waterways in four basins monitored by the H-GAC Clean Rivers Program, an overview of the program's outreach activities, and summarizes special projects using Clean Rivers Program data.
Regional Building Inventory Snapshot (2015) is an interactive application that explores the 2015 regional building inventory and analyzes the development patterns based on a building’s year of construction, building type, housing units and non-residential square feet. Houston-Galveston Area Councils’ (H-GAC) Building Inventory Database is based on the appraisal data collected and processed from individual County Appraisal Districts. The Counties included in the analysis are: Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, and Waller County.
Urban Forestry tool helps users to assess urban forests (land cover and tree canopy) in areas and to develop urban forestry planning projects that identify and prioritize urban forestry conservation and restoration efforts.
3D Property Value Viewer represents aggregated property values in Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery and Waller County using a hexagonal grid system (1 hexagon=0.14 square miles). The property values are derived from individual County Appraisal Districts. You can navigate the map by zooming, panning, and rotating; select a bookmark; choose specific layers to view; print view in PDF/image formats; search for objects and attributes; and view additional information about the map.
The Basin Summary Report (BSR) is produced every five years and outlines water quality issues within H-GAC’s five basins. Visit the 2016 Basin Summary Report website for more information.
Blue Map has a new name, ACE (Activity-Connectivity Explorer). ACE is a mapping application to identify existing activity center(s) based on density and connectivity index using a hexagonal grid system. Visit the Livable Centers Tools website for more information.
Use the Demographic Data Explorer to view and analyse the region's demographic data for counties, tracts, places and block groups. Data in this app is from 2011-2015 American Community Survey. Visit the Census Data page for more information.
The 2017 profiles for all 13 counties in the region provide a demographic snapshot and build a baseline understanding from which local communities and H-GAC can gauge how the region has advanced the tenets of the Our Great Region 2040 plan.

H-GAC's Designing for Impact project seeks to create policy solutions and implementation tools that advance the use of Low Impact Development (LID) techniques to mitigate the negative impacts of coastal development within the Houston-Galveston area. The Regional Bikeway Viewer is an interactive map of existing and planned bikeways in the Houston-Galveston region.
The app displays and analyzes Origin-Destination tables (total trips, work/non-work trips, and A.M. trips) using various geographic boundaries including TAZ, 3-square mile hexagon grids, 51, Sectors, 25 Regional Sectors, and 8 Counties.

These interactive applications visualize workers' commuting patterns between home and workplace in different geographic levels in the region. The data is based on 2015 US Census Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) Origin-Destination Employment Statistics data.
The Connectivity Tool is a sketch planning tool that helps answer the question of what level of road connectivity is needed at various levels of density in order to maintain transportation levels of services. The tool provides the user with the road spacing or land miles needed. A second application within the tool allows the user to analyze how much the addition of parallel collectors would reduce traffic on the arterial. The user’s guide for the tool also contains recommendations to improve development connectivity.
The Fiscal Impact Model is a tool that allows local governments to estimate potential revenues and economic impact associated with creating Livable Centers. Inputs include tax rates and use types (residential, commercial, etc) and outputs potential fiscal revenues for the local government stemming from the inputted project. The user’s guide for the fiscal impact model also contains recommendations for overcoming fiscal implementation obstacles to creating centers.
The Livable Centers Benefits Calculator is a sketch planning tool that demonstrates the potential benefits, as measured by mode shift, which could occur from the presence of centers in a region. The tool demonstrates the potential impact of centers of varying sizes and densities on mode share. Please view the user's guide.
H-GAC's Regional Growth Forecast Report is an interactive application that summarizes changes in Households, Household Population and Jobs for different geographic levels (Counties, Regional Sector 10, Regional Sector 25 and Places) based on H-GAC's 2017 annual regional growth forecast.
Regional Population Growth Trends (1980-2040) is an interactive application that summarizes household population changes between 1980 and 2040 by different geographic levels including ring, quadrant, directional, and 25 sectors using Census (1980, 1990, 2000, 2010) and H-GAC's 2017 annual regional growth forecast (2011-2040).
The Land Cover Change Application summaries the trend how much and what land cover types has been changed between 1996 and 2011 within H-GAC region based on National Land Cover Data (NLCD). It allows search by counties and do direct comparison between 1996 and 2011 change by type of land cover. Visit the Land Cover Data page for more information.
On The Map is a web-based mapping and reporting application that shows where workers are employed and where they live. It also provides companion reports on age, earnings, industry distributions, race, ethnicity, educational attainment, and sex. QWI Explorer is a new, web-based analysis tool that enables comprehensive access to the full depth and breadth of the Quarterly Workforce Indicators (QWI) dataset. Through charts, maps, and interactive tables, users can compare, rank and aggregate QWIs across time, geography, and/or firm and worker characteristics on the fly.
