H-GAC, in partnership with Walker County, City of Waverly, and City of Riverside, is developing a Hazard Mitigation Plan for Walker County, Texas.
A Hazard Mitigation Plan is a strategic plan that proposes actions to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and property from future natural disasters. Public input and involvement is important for developing a comprehensive approach to reduce the effects of natural disasters on communities.
More information on hazard mitigation plans is available on FEMA's website.
The Walker County Hazard Mitigation Plan was adopted on May 29, 2018, by the Walker County Commissioners Court. A full copy of the plan can be viewed or downloaded here: Walker County Hazard Mitigation Plan.
