About Subregional Planning
H-GAC is managing the Subregional Planning Initiative (SPI) to help achieve locally-conceived goals through long-range planning and definite implementation strategies.
The Initiative, which is directed by local Stakeholder Committees, will provide an in-depth examination of each subregional area, and work to identify a shared vision of local priorities. Through data analysis and transportation modeling, the Initiative will be able to communicate to the subregional public regarding the existing outlook, and aid local interests in prioritizing their future. The end product will be jurisdiction-specific recommendations in the form of Implementation Workbooks.
The plans will provide a clear perspective of each area, with input from Elected Officials, private sector Stakeholders, and local jurisdictions. The overall goal of the Initiative is to achieve local preferences while planning for regionally-significant changes. Multiple subregional plans are currently underway, and their materials are available here for public access.
