Transportation Efficiency Program: $17 Million
In order to meet the goals of SEP/ARRA, the purpose of this program is to create or retain jobs, increase transportation efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reduce dependence on foreign oil through a competitive grants process. Public entities will be able to submit proposals through two projects – the Traffic Signal Project and the Alternative Fuels Project. More
TIGER Discretionary Grants
On May 18, 2009 the U.S. Department of Transportation announced the availability of $1.5 billion in TIGER Discretionary Grants. This new funding is expected to promote greater mobility, a cleaner environment and more livable communities. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis and the project selection criteria is broadly defined to be those which will have a significant impact on the nation, a region or metropolitan area and can create jobs and benefit economically distressed areas.
