The Transportation Policy Council (TPC) approved the 2017 TPC Officers: Chairman - Judge Matt Sebesta (Brazoria County), 1st Vice Chair - Commissioner Rusty Senac (Chambers County), 2nd Vice Chair - Commissioner Ken Clark (Galveston County), Secretary - Mayor Tom Reid (City of Pearland), and Past Chair - Judge Ed Emmett (Harris County). Also approved was one at-large position on the TPC and 16 at-large positions on the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). 

H-GAC staff presented highlights of major transportation projects in the region implemented in 2016: SH288 Toll Road Concession, Continue Reconstruction and Widening of Sam Houston Tollway/BW 8 , Continue Reconstruction and Widening of US 59S in Fort Bend Co., Continue 
Reconstruction of Post Oak Blvd with Dedicated Bus Lanes, Construction of Conroe Park & Ride, and City of Houston B-Cycle expansion. 

H-GAC Staff also presented an update on freight mobility planning. The Greater Houston Freight Committee has focused on identifying a locally significant freight network and provided input on the update for the statewide Freight Plan. In the coming months, the Committee will recommend a network of significant freight corridors for adoption by TPC and begin to outline regional freight-specific priorities.

State Highway 146 Subregional Study
H-GAC has kicked off the SH 146 Subregional Study. The purpose of the study is to identify short, intermediate and long-term transportation improvements to increase safety and traffic flow, reduce congestion, improve air quality and incorporate multi-modal mobility solutions. 

The study area will cover approximately 10 miles, extending from the Chambers-Liberty County line to the intersection of SH 146 and North Alexander Dr.
