H-GAC Transportation Safety Planning
The aim of the H-GAC Transportation Safety Program is to improved traffic safety throughout the eight-county Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) region. The MPO region has experienced tremendous population growth, and a corresponding increase in traffic-related injuries and deaths.
The Transportation Safety Program has three goals: identify and monitor safety issues; Implement roadway safety improvements at hazardous locations; and, support the safety efforts of other community organizations and agencies. The Program staff work to accomplish those goals by amongst other things analyzing and reporting on vehicle crash data, working with issue-specific traffic safety committees and groups, and host annual traffic safety conferences.
