HGB 8- Hour Ozone Control Strategy Development for On-Road and Non-Road Mobile Sources
The Houston-Galveston-Brazoria (HGB) area holds nonattainment status for ground-level ozone under the 8-hour standard which became effective June 15, 2005. Counties affected under this status are Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, and Waller. The region was classified as being in " moderate" nonattainment of the 8-hour standard and was given a maximum attainment date of June 15, 2010. However, due to a 2007 request by Texas Governor Rick Perry, the region will likely be reclassified as a "severe" nonattainment region with a maximum attainment date of June 15, 2019. The state environmental agency, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), has additional information relating to the history and status of the HGB area. See http://www.tceq.state.tx.us/implementation/air/sip/hgb.html for more information.
Master Control Measure Menu for On-road and Non-road Sources Open for First Round of Review and Comment
H-GAC is working with TCEQ to prepare control measures for on-road (cars, trucks and buses) and non-road (construction, aircraft, locomotive, lawn & garden, marine) sources in the HGB area. The schedule establishes two rounds of review and comment to obtain as much public input as possible.
H-GAC is presenting the Master Control Measure Menu for the first round of review and comment. This Menu is intended to be comprehensive and individual measures have not been reviewed technically, legally or practically for implementation in the Houston-Galveston-Brazoria area. It is presented in order to provide "one-stop shopping" for potential pollution control measures that reduce NOx and VOCs from on-road and non-road sources.
