Beginning in 2002, H-GAC began facilitating, along with the Geographic Data Committee (GDC), the acquisition of aerial imagery for the Houston-Galveston region on a biannual basis, with the goal of continuing this program into the future.


Specifications

  • The imagery is tiled according to the lambert grid, with 1,873 4 sq. mi. tiles currently covered (see interactive map at bottom of page).
  • The imagery has a 1 ft. pixel resolution, in MrSID 20:1 compressed format (limited availability of 6 in. resolution).
  • Images can be viewed with any ArcGIS application, certain AutoCAD applications, and the free LizardTech application available at www.lizardtech.com.

2010 Pricing

  • 1-15 lamberts (for FTP download or on CD) $100 each tile
  • Full Coverage of 1 foot and 6 inch pixel products (on external hard drive) $5,500 (price of hard drive included)
  • Entire set of Color Infra-red imagery for all of Harris County and its watersheds $2,000 (contact Martin Siwek at Martin.Siwek@h-gac.com)

In our efforts to maintain productivity and efficiency within H-GAC, we have had to close the free download access to the 2006 Aerial imagery due to bandwidth and server processing issues.
