Texas Gulf Coast LiDAR Digital Elevation Models
In 2006, FEMA contracted with Sanborn Mapping Company, Inc. to have LiDAR flown for all Texas Gulf Coast counties. 1.4 meter pixel resolution, bare-earth digital elevation models were derived from the LiDAR returns. Originally used for coastal and stream flood assessments, these elevation models remain some of the most accurate models of the area.
H-GAC has processed the 4 square mile digital elevation tiles into Grid files, which can be read by ArcGIS and some AutoCAD applications. In addition, a mosaic of the entire dataset, seamlessly piecing all tiles into one image, is included in file geodatabase format, which can be read by ArcGIS 9.2 and higher. The coverage area includes all of Brazoria, Chambers, Galveston, and Matagorda counties.
