    Aerial ImageryStarting in 2002, the Houston-Galveston Area Council began facilitating, along with the Geographic Data Committee, the acquisition of aerial imagery data for the greater Houston-Galveston region on a biannual basis.  The goal of the program is to continue to provide this service in the future, and expand it to include all of the 13 counties in the H-GAC region, depending on demand.  More...

    H-GAC Regional Flex Map

    The H-GAC Flex Flash dynamic mapping application uses advanced ArcGIS Server and Flex Flash technology to serve GIS layers to the public.  Layers such as bike trails, recycling centers, solid waste facilities, and voter precincts are viewable from the map.  Simply click the link above to get started.

  • GIS Training

    GIS TrainingThe Houston-Galveston Area Council hosts ESRI certified GIS training for the 13 county region.  Classes are held twice a year - occurring both in the spring and fall time frame. Training is located at the H-GAC’s main office building and the training facility can hold up to 12 students with one student per PC.     STAR*MapThe acronym STAR*Map is the trademarked name for the Southeast Texas Addressing and Referencing Map. Created and maintained by the Houston-Galveston Area Council and the Geographic Data Committee, STAR*Map is a digital basemap and database that covers a multi-county region, including Austin, Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, Waller, Wharton, Chambers, Colorado, Matagorda and Walker Counties.     GIS Data ClearinghouseThe Houston-Galveston Area Council provides much of its vector data on this page for free download.  The data are available in individual shapefiles to serve a wider variety of applications.  Most of the data covers only the H-GAC region; however, several are statewide, as noted.     LiDAR

    2008 LiDAR Digital Elevation Models are now available for portions of the H-GAC region.  This product includes 5-foot pixel DEMs, 1-foot contour lines, and several other deliverables.  2006 DEMs for coastal counties are also available.
