
Starting in 2002, the Houston Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) began facilitating, along with the Geographic Data Committee (GDC), the acquisition of aerial imagery for the greater Houston-Galveston region, on a biannual basis.
Specifications
The imagery is tiled according to the lambert grid, with over 1,800 4 sq. mi. tiles.
Over 7,500 sq. mi. are currently covered, including Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Montgomery, and Wallis Counties, as well as parts of neighboring counties.
The imagery has a 1 ft. pixel resolution, in MrSID 20:1 compressed format (limited availability of 6 inch resolution).
Images can be viewed with any ArcGIS application, certain AutoCAD applications, or the free LizardTech application, available at
www.lizardtech.com.
The coordinate system for the imagery is State Plane, Texas South Central Zone (FIPS code 4204), Feet, NAD83.
