2012 Aerial Imagery Information

2010 6inch Aerial Imagery Sample

H-GAC cooperatively purchases digital aerial imagery and remote sensing data through cost-sharing via the Geographic Data Committee (GDC) on a bi-annual basis.  H-GAC has submitted a request for proposal, received proposals, and has selected Surdex as the vendor for imagery collection in 2012.  Below is a brief summary of the product specifications:

Imagery Specifications

  • Product: Enhanced True Color Digital Orthoimagery
  • Resolutions: Two (2) foot pixel; one (1) foot pixel; six (6) inch pixel and three (3) inch pixel resolutions
  • Projections: State Plane Texas South Central and Central zones; Geographic
  • Acquistion Time Frame: Late December 2011 to late January 2012
  • Acquistion Area: In 2010 we acquired approximately 7,845 square miles (6 urban counties) of one foot resolutions cooperatively purchased with funds from 44 participating organizations.   This year we hope to acquire the entire 13 county region which could include over 12,000 square miles if there is enough cost-share interest.

2012 Imagery Acquisition Status

At this time, we have verbal confirmations from over 40 cost-share participants to acquire both 1 foot pixel aerial imagery for the entire H-GAC region (13,000 square miles)  and  800 square miles of 6 inch pixel imagery requested in various areas within the Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria, and Montgomery counties.

We will continue to keep this section updated on our progress so feel free to check back regularly.
