Parks and Natural Areas Subcommittee
Mission/Function
The Parks & Natural Areas (PNA) Subcommittee's mission is to "assist in the development of public policy initiatives to expand parks and natural areas in the thirteen-county H-GAC region for the improved quality of life, habitat, and water quality." It is a subcommittee of the Natural Resources Advisory Committee (NRAC), a thirty-member committee appointed by the board of H-GAC. The NRAC's purpose is to advise the H-GAC Board of Directors and staff on environmental and natural resource issues.
To that end, the PNA Subcommittee promotes the PNA Best Management Practices Award Program, maintains a regional inventory of parks, and serves as a forum for discussion of issues related to parks and natural areas. The PNA subcommittee facilitates information exchange and planning efforts between various stakeholders and collaborators to protect and preserve parks and natural areas across the region.
