Clean Waters Initiative - Onsite Septic System

Houston - July 24, 2008
Clean water is crucial to our region’s environment, economy and quality of life. What does it cost our communities? What can we do to protect area watersheds? What can we do to sustain surface water sources for drinking and recreation? The Houston-Galveston Area Council and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality have scheduled a free workshop titled, Clean Waters Initiative Workshop: On-Site Septic Systems to help municipal officials, developers, and septic system providers learn about new developments in TCEQ regulations for on-site septic systems and successful management practices. The workshop will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Conference Room A, 2ND floor at H-GAC, 3555 Timmons Lane, Houston.  To register for the workshop or see an agenda go to www.h-gac.com/cwi . For further information contact Kathleen Ramsey at 713-499-6653 or email kathleen.ramsey@h-gac.com.

The workshop will focus on:

– Clean water and septic systems – do they mix?
– New developments in rules and homeowner maintenance
– Developer costs and enforcement
– Best practices that work

Clean Waters Initiative Workshops are a new H-GAC series.  They include “Hot Topics” and “Broad Brush” workshops.  Mark your calendar for Hot Topic Workshops on “Managing Stormwater” at Lone Star convention and Expo Center in Conroe, Texas (August 12) and at H-GAC’s Offices (August 15). Broad Brush workshops include “Watershed Planning on the Brazos River” (September) and “Working Marriage – Flood Control, Water Quality and Recreation” on the west side of the region (October).
