March Board of Directors Meeting
At their March meeting, the H-GAC Board of Directors approved a resolution recognizing April as Fair Housing Month within the region.

In addition, the Board approved the acquisition of ten heavy-duty diesel trucks to replace older equipment with newer, more economical and lower emission equipment.

The Board also approved a local project agreement with TxDOT for incident management activities to expedite removal of stranded vehicles from critical freeways, as well as, approved a resolution honoring retiring ISD representative and Fort Bend ISD Trustee, Kristin Tassin.
Fair Housing Choice:  It's Not an Option, It's the Law
Fai Housing Icon H-GAC recognizes April as Fair Housing Month and reminds everyone that the Federal Fair Housing Act makes discrimination in housing against the law. In any decision regarding rental, sales, or lending, it is illegal to consider race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or family status.

If you feel your fair housing rights have been violated, all complaints and comments should be addressed to the office of U.S. Housing and Urban Development at 1-800-669-9777.
2017 Regional GIS Expo
An estimated 200-250 people attended the second annual Houston Regional GIS Expo on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Houston Transtar building. It was presented by the Houston-Galveston Area Council's Geographic Data Workgroup in conjunction with Houston TranStar.

The Houston Regional GIS Expo represents GIS technologies across a 13 county area of Southeast Texas, bringing together academics, government officials, engineers, not for profit organizations, and other practitioners who are engaged in GIS and related technologies to network and showcase their organization.

This year's GIS Expo included an exhibit hall, GIS themed presentations, hi-tech GIS/GPS vehicles and drones on display, a map gallery and contest, TranStar facility tours, food trucks, and a keynote presentation by Apple. The proceeds from the 18 sponsors of this year's GIS Expo will go to provide meals and scholarships for the 250-300 high school students that will attend GIS Day this November.
