The GCEDD is the federally designated economic development planning body for the 13-county Gulf Coast State Planning Region. The District’s primary functions are to coordinate the economic development activities of the planning region, provide technical assistance to economic development organizations of the region, and maintain the region’s eligibility to apply for economic development grants and assistance from the Economic Development Administration (EDA).

The GCEDD meets on a quarterly basis.
The GCEDD meets in the Houston-Galveston Area Council offices at 3555 Timmons Lane, Houston, Texas 77027, in the conference rooms on the second floor.
The Gulf Coast Economic Development district implements the regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, the regional plan for economic development. The GCEDD manages the Business Loan Fund and Revolving Loan Fund.
