A Successful 2018 Commute Solutions Month!
|
|
Commute Solutions and its partners in the eight-county Houston-Galveston Transportation Management Area celebrated Commute Solutions Month in August.
H-GAC staff partnered with METRO, Fort Bend Transit, and Harris County Transit to organize a series of public outreach events at area park and ride facilities. These outreach events are ways of expressing appreciation to commuters who currently ride the bus or rail, vanpool, carpool, and bicycle.
These "Road Warriors" travel all over the region to assist other commuters in finding a smarter way to work. We hope to invite new participants to help us relieve traffic congestion and improve air quality in the region.

Labor Day Travel Safety Tips
|
|
Labor Day is one of the busiest travel times of the year with approximately 46.9 million Americans traveling more than 50 miles from home.
Here are some tips to make your Labor Day travel a breeze:
- Make sure your vehicle is ready for long-distance travel. Check tire pressure, fluid levels, and consider the last time your radiator and cooling systems were serviced.
- Leave early! Holiday travel can double or even triple your travel time.
- Put your phone away. Distracted driving causes a large part of accidents on roads today.
- Buckle up for safety! About 20,000 fatal and non-fatal car accident injuries happen Friday through Monday of Labor Day weekend. Many of these injuries can be avoided by buckling up.
