Galveston Bay Estuary’s Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP), called The Galveston Bay Plan (GBP'95), was developed to address 17 priority problems, including habitat loss and degradation, water and sediment quality, freshwater inflows, species protection, and public health.
Charting the Course to 2015: Galveston Bay Strategic Action Plan was created to update the GBP'95, identify new or emerging problems, and reevaluate priority goals.
A revision to GBP'95 - known as GBP'18 - was completed in 2018 to continue protection and conservation of the estuary. Efforts focused on identifying new issues facing Galveston Bay that were not addressed by GBP'95 or previous updates, and present them in an easily accessible format.
The Galveston Bay Council approved adoption of GBP'18 on October 17, 2018. The final draft, and corresponding materials, can be viewed here.
