A total of $1.2 million will be available for solid waste implementation grants during FY12 and FY13. Unlike past years, there will only be one call for applications for the two-year period, with half of the money to be distributed each year. Additionally, $600,000 has been earmarked for large projects (those $100,000 and over) and $600,000 has been earmarked for small projects. No match is required, however, it is encouraged. The application period for this two-year period is now closed. Pass-through funding comes from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
Grant Application Scoring
A total of 31 grant applications were submitted for the current round of funding. Grant presentations will be held in front of the 10 person Solid Waste Project Review Committee on January 10 and 11, 2012, at the H-GAC offices in Conference Room C (2nd floor). The presentation schedule can be found here. At the conclusion of day two the committee will determine the projects to be funded during FY12 and FY13.
