NEW! Requesting Applications: FY09 Solid Waste Implementation Grants
The Houston-Galveston Area Council is requesting applications for FY2009 Solid Waste Implementation Grants. The due date for applications is 3:00 pm, Monday, June 9, 2008. There will be a Grant Application Workshop on May 14th at 9:30 am. The workshop will be held at the H-GAC offices on the second floor in Conference Room C. Please RSVP via email to Hilde Leitenbacher (hleitenbacher@h-gac.com) if you plan to attend.
Grant applicants are strongly encouraged to attend the Grant Application Workshop. However, if you can not attend, you can always contact the Solid Waste staff and we will answer questions via email or phone.

Solid Waste Grants at Work in the Region
Through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)/H-GAC grant program, our region now has an infrastructure for collecting and processing recyclable materials. The grant program provided $16,246,748 to local governments from 1993 through 2005. The grant program has funded the following types of grants: recycling (29%), local enforcement (26%), composting (13%), household hazardous waste (15%), education (10%), solid waste (4%) and local plans (2%).

View a list of Local Government Solid Waste Implementation Projects for Fiscal Years 1993 to present. The implementation grants change from year to year. Changes include eligible applicants, projects and expenditures. The grant award shown was the original budget request. The final grant amount may have changed.
