What is H-GAC?

The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) is a regional planning agency for the Houston region. Organizationally, H-GAC is a voluntary association of local governments and local elected officials in the 13-county Gulf Coast Planning Region - an area of 12,500 square miles with almost 5.4 million people.  H-GAC's chief mission is to serve local governments today while helping them plan for tomorrow.

What is the H-GAC Regional Growth Forecast?

H-GAC's Forecasting Group develops a long range forecast for Population and Employment in the Houston Transportation Management Area (TMA). The primary purpose of the forecast is to support the agency's regional transportation planning, as well as other regional planning efforts.

 

What area does it cover?

The H-GAC Regional Growth Forecast covers Brazoria, Chambers, Galveston, Fort Bend, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, and Waller Counties.

 

What is the Forecast horizon?

The forecast uses a 30-year horizon, so the "farthest" year available is 2035.

 

Are other years available?

The forecast is available for every year between 2005 and 2035

 

What geographic unit is the Forecast available in?

The forecast is available in several different geographic units: counties, Regional Analysis Zones (RAZ), Transportation Analysis Zones (TAZ), and cities. Upon request, the forecast can be delivered for custom-defined units.

How much does it cost?
