Premium paid by H-GAC for employee; employee pays for dependent coverage.
H-GAC open enrollment is October 1st of each year.

H-GAC provides life insurance in an amount equal to the employee's annual salary at no cost to the employee. The employee may purchase dependent coverage in limited amounts.
Participation in the retirement plan is mandatory by all H-GAC employees after a 6 month waiting period. H-GAC will contribute an amount on behalf of each member equal to 7% of the employee’s Considered Compensation (called the Supplemental Employer Contribution) for each payroll period during which the employee made a 3% required after tax contribution or a 3% salary deferral election The employee is also permitted to make a voluntary after tax contribution, and/or to elect to defer an additional amount of their Considered Compensation up to a total of 93% of compensation.
LONG TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE:
Provides income when employee is unable to work due to serious injury or illness. There is a 90 day elimination period. The Plan pays 66% of basic monthly salary up to $5,000.
PAID ANNUAL LEAVE (VACATION)*:
Regular full-time employees earn paid vacation based on actual hours worked. The first through fifth year accrues at the rate of 3.08 hours per pay period. Vacation accrues, but is not available until the employee has worked 6 months.
Leave hours may be accrued up to 192 hours for employees with less than 5 years tenure; 240 hours for employees with 5+ years. Upon termination, employee is reimbursed for accrued annual leave, within these guidelines.
* Employees who have worked 6 months or more and who have not taken more than 40 hours sick leave during one calendar year are credited with 27 hours of additional vacation at the end of the year which will be deducted from sick leave accrued to date at the beginning of the new calendar year.
PAID SICK LEAVE:
Earned at 3.7 hours per each biweekly pay period. Sick leave may be accumulated up to a maximum of 480 hours. Employees will not be reimbursed for unused sick leave upon termination from H-GAC.
OTHER PAID LEAVE:
Civil Leave; Military Leave; Active Military Duty; Emergency Leave (up to 27 hours, with approval of Executive Director); Leave without Pay (3 months) and Extended Medical Leave (3 months) both require approval of Executive Director.
New Years' Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Friday following Thanksgiving; Christmas Eve; and Christmas Day. Employees with 6+ month's service: 1 Floating Holiday/year; Employees with 5+ Year's tenure: 2 Floating Holidays/year. Does not apply to regular part-time employees.
PAID EMPLOYEE PARKING:
H-GAC pays the monthly parking costs for all employees.
CREDIT UNION: Eligible membership in Smart Financial Credit Union.
DIRECT DEPOSIT: Direct payroll deposit. H-GAC pay cycle is bi-weekly.
125 BENEFIT PLAN: Cafeteria Benefit Plan; allows employee to designate allowable medical, dental, and child care costs not covered by major plan as benefit rather than salary; program may be revised annually; amount designated by employee then payroll deducted, and employee reimbursed for those expenses upon completion of a 125 voucher with attached receipts.
SUPPLEMENTAL INSURANCE: Offered through Colonial.
