US 90A/SH 99 Grade Separation
Fort Bend County
AT SH 99
The Houston Metropolitan Area serves as the main source of employment for its surrounding communities including Sugar Land and Richmond. Population and regional growth has remained strong and is anticipated to continue. US 90A serves as a major commuter route for communities southwest of Houston. This trend is anticipated to intensify as the surrounding population increases. The facility had 84 crashes during the period from 2015 to 2017. Improving congestion on this facility could save users in excess of 33,000 hours of travel time per lane-mile. Congestion is adversely affecting the travel time and reliability for freight movement. This trend is anticipated to intensify as the surrounding population increases. The truck volume on the facility is roughly 1,655 trucks per day and this represents 3.1% percent of the facility's AADT.
Construct grade separation and intersection improvements
Due to the anticipated increase in traffic, population and regional development, improvements to US 90A are needed. The purpose of this project is to reduce crashes, serious injuries and fatalities; reduce congestion on the facility and improve the reliability of peak-period travel times; reduce congestion and improve travel time reliability for freight movement on this facility.
